Tutoring in YMCA Pointe-Saint-Charles

The YMCA in Pointe Saint-Charles is currently seeking volunteers for its high school tutoring program.

The ideal candidate is someone who meets the following criteria:
- Enjoys sharing knowledge
- Looking for a stable weekly commitment
- Comfortable tutoring core subjects (English, French, and math) at the high school level
If you meet the above criteria, we would love to have you on board!
 
Additional Information:
The tutoring program runs from Monday to Thursday. Each day, there are three scheduled blocks:
BLOCK 1: 4:15 to 5:30 pm BLOCK 2: 5:30 to 6:45 pm BLOCK 3: 6:45 to 8:00 pm
 
Tutors are asked to commit to a minimum of two blocks per week (could be on the same day or on different days).Tutoring takes place at one of the sites below. Volunteers are asked to commit to only one site.
SITE 1: Pointe-Saint-Charles YMCA (255 Ash Avenue, H3K 2R1, closest metro is Charlevoix)
SITE 2: Satellite Site (2532 Centre Street, H3K 1J8, closest metro is Charlevoix)
 
The role of a tutor includes the following:
- Working with one or more high school students at a time, on one or more subjects.
- Helping students with their homework by answering any questions they may have.
- Working with students to identify tools, as well as methods, that will allow them to complete their homework with greater ease.
- Correcting completed homework.
- Giving constructive feedback to students regarding their progress, and encouraging them to continuously work towards their academic success.
