In response to Pope Francis’ appeal to pray for peace in the Middle East, Archbishop Christian Lépine will celebrate a special Mass on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Friday evening, August 15, 7:30 at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral.

The August 15 solemnity celebrates the Blessed Virgin Mary's destiny of fullness and beatitude. This feast has always been extremely popular among Catholics worldwide.

In 1938, Pope Pius XI established the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary patron saint of the archdiocese of Moncton and the diocese of Chatham and gladly approved that all Acadians honor her as their patron saint.

On this occasion, the Archbishop of Montreal will be fulfilling Pope Francis's request for prayer for peace in the Middle East.
