For more than twenty years the Archdiocese of Montreal has offered a service of spiritual accompaniment of sick and elderly persons in their own homes, under the name SASMAD, or as it is known in English: Pastoral Home Care. This diocesan service is confidential and free and is made available thanks to the visits of hundreds of volunteers who have received special training. Faithful to God who has called us, in the Church, to care for the sick at home, we make a commitment to respond to the spiritual needs of people who are suffering, within the context of the reforms in the healthcare system, whatever their beliefs. The growth of this service is made possible through financial aid provided by « Les amis de Jeanne-Mance» in partnership with the Archdiocese of Montreal.
