We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Father Emmett Johns, “Pops”, who died peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in Montreal, Quebec, at the age of 89.

Fr. Emmett Johns was ordained a priest on June 6, 1952. He served as a curate at St. Monica, St. Anthony, Our Lady of Fatima and St. Brendan parishes, and as pastor of St. John Fisher and then Resurrection of Our Lord parishes. He also served as a chaplain at several schools and at the Douglas Hospital. Fr. Johns founded Le Bon Dieu dans la rue in 1988, ministering to Montreal's homeless youth, and where he was affectionately nicknamed "Pops".
