The Bishops of Canada are thankful for Pope Francis’s historic visit to our country in order to keep his promise and to show by his presence his closeness to the Indigenous Peoples of the world. His visit represents a significant milestone on the path of healing and reconciliation.

Cinémas Guzzo, the largest independent cinema chain in Quebec, will present the live broadcast of the Pope's Mass to be held at the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. The Mass will be broadcast on July 28, at 10 a.m. in both official languages on all of its screens.

To those gathered in St. Peter’s Square for the Angelus on Sunday, July 17, Pope Francis spoke of his historic visit to Canada (July 24 – 29) as a “penitential pilgrimage.” He asked that the faithful pray for him. He will need it, because the organizing committee had only two months to prepare for this trip. Not to mention the latest COVID-19 surge and the uncertain state of health of the aging Pope from Latin America. On doctor’s orders, he was forced to cancel two pastoral visits to Lebanon and Africa due to the knee pains that have affected his mobility.

Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Frank Leo as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Montreal, the Holy See announced today, memorial of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Following his episcopal ordination, the new bishop will join the auxiliary bishop currently assisting the Archbishop of Montreal, Most Rev. Alain Faubert, in serving the faithful of the Archdiocese.
