Montreal

The Archdiocese of Montreal announces the appointment of Fr. François Charette to the position of Director of the Office for Pastoral Personnel. He will take up his new responsibilities as of August 8, 2022, along with those of Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Personnel.

From 2020 until this latest appointment, Fr. Charette, as member of the College of formators at the Grand Séminaire de l’Archidiocèse de Montréal, held the position of Director of Studies, as well as teaching moral theology.

Before his presbyteral ordination for the Archdiocese of Montreal in 2009, he joined the “Société du Christ Seigneur,” an institute of consecrated life, and spent one year on a
missionary experience in Argentina (2007-2008).

After serving in parish ministry as vicar for a few years in the boroughs of Montreal North and Ahuntsic, Fr. Charette worked at the archdiocesan curia office as secretary to the Archbishop (2012-2013) and assistant to the Director of the Office for Pastoral Personnel (2013-2015).

Sent to study in Rome, he obtained a licentiate in moral theology at the Accademia Alfonsiana and a doctorate in the same discipline at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum).

In his new role as Director of the Office for Pastoral Personnel, Fr. Charette, will be working with his team to take care of the priests, deacons and mandated lay pastoral administrators in the Archdiocese. These duties will require him to work closely with the Office of the Archbishop, the Vicars General and the other Episcopal Vicars.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Fr. Charette a very fruitful ministry.
