As the Solemnity of Christ the King approaches, Mission Jeunesse Montréal invites young people and youth workers throughout the diocese to experience an unforgettable week of celebration, hope and communion. Inspired by the message of Pope Francis and the vision of our archbishop, Christian Lépine, we put young people at the forefront of the Church's mission, encouraging them to discover and share their full potential through Jesus Christ and the Gospel.

VIVA! - A Vigil for the Young and by the Young 

On November 22, 2024, Archbishop Lépine will preside over the Vigil of Christ the King at Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral, a high point of adoration, prayer, music and witness. The evening, hosted by young people for young people, will begin with supper and a time of fellowship at 6 p.m. Archbishop Lépine will bless and send off the youth ministry leaders, accompanying them with his prayers for this new year of mission.

Thirty-ninth Diocesan World Youth Day - “Those who put their hope in the Lord walk without tiring” (Is 40:31) 

On November 24, our Church celebrates the 39th Diocesan World Youth Day under the inspiring theme taken from Isaiah. In a world where young people face many challenges, this day will be a time to rekindle their faith and hope in God, responding to Pope Francis' call to move forward with courage and confidence.

In parishes across the diocese, we encourage you to celebrate this day by putting young people at the centre of the celebrations. Let us give them an active role in our liturgies and offer them a special blessing. Let this day be a recognition of their value and contribution to the Church and society.

A Week of Hope and Communion 

The week of celebration will begin on November 16 with the Teen Festival at Saint-Sauveur Melkite Cathedral, bringing together young people aged 13 to 17 for a dynamic day of joy and faith. This festival will be a unique opportunity for young people to meet Christ and experience intense moments of sharing and friendship.

Together, let's make this Youth Week a source of renewal and hope for our Church. Invite the young people around you, whether committed or searching, so that they can meet the living Christ at the heart of this great diocesan celebration.
