February 8, 2025: XI World Day of Prayer and Reflection Against Human Trafficking
Jubilee
Under the theme “Ambassadors of Hope: Together Against Human Trafficking,” the XI World Day of Prayer and Reflection Against Human Trafficking, coordinated by Talitha Kum in collaboration with global partners, will be celebrated on February 8, 2025. This annual day, inaugurated by Pope Francis in 2015, aligns with the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita, a powerful symbol of resilience and liberation from slavery.
Inspired by the Pope’s call to be “pilgrims of peace and apostles of hope,” this year’s event occurs in the context of the Jubilee Year 2025. It seeks to promote prayer, reflection, and action to combat human trafficking, supporting victims, survivors, and vulnerable populations such as women, children, migrants, and refugees.
Key Highlights:
- Global Prayer and Awareness: Across the world, people of all faiths are invited to unite in prayer to end the tragedy of human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
- Week of Action in Rome (February 4–10): Over 100 participants, including activists, survivors, migrants, and leaders from the arts and film industries, will gather to amplify the call for systemic change and solidarity.
- Commitment to Dignity: Rooted in the Vatican’s declaration Dignitas Infinita, the initiative calls for action against human trafficking and exploitation, emphasizing human dignity and fraternity.
The Call to Action:
- Pray for an end to trafficking and for the healing of survivors.
- Listen to the voices of survivors and amplify their stories.
- Act to address the root causes of trafficking, support vulnerable populations, and advocate for systemic change.
- Accompany migrants and refugees on their journeys to safety and dignity.
- Dream of a world free from trafficking and exploitation.
Together, we are called to be Ambassadors of Hope, embracing compassion, solidarity, and transformative action to build a future where human dignity is upheld.
Saint Josephine Bakhita, pray for us!
