Gathering Under the Star of Epiphany: A Celebration of Gratitude in Service to the Gospel
Montreal
As part of the ongoing Jubilee Year, Archbishop Christian Lépine extended a warm invitation to collaborators and pastoral teams across the Montreal diocese to gather for a special moment of fraternity and celebration. This meaningful event, held under the Star of Epiphany, unfolded over three convivial gatherings on January 8, 9, and 11, 2025, across the diocese.
These encounters offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties between members of various communities, foster dialogue in a spirit of camaraderie and networking, and recognize the dedication of those serving the Church’s mission. A highlight of the gatherings was the presentation of the prestigious Ignace Bourget Diocesan Award of Merit, honouring individuals whose exceptional contributions have left a lasting impact on the life of the Church this past year.
In his address, Archbishop Lépine emphasized the central theme of hope in this Jubilee Year, drawing a parallel to the journey of the Magi, who followed the star to meet Christ. He encouraged the faithful to follow their example, embracing the call to bring hope to a world too often marked by suffering, isolation, and uncertainty. He expressed gratitude for the spirit of welcome and communion shared across the diocese, encouraging all to let themselves be guided by the light that illuminates our path forward.
The gatherings were rich with moments of prayer, heartfelt exchanges, and good wishes for the year ahead. Archbishop Lépine encouraged all present to nurture faith and foster unity in diversity, bringing the light of hope to families, young people, refugees, and those in isolation. The celebration served as a moment of spiritual renewal, a call to move forward together in shared mission.
Above all, these gatherings were an expression of gratitude and a celebration of the collective commitment to the Church’s mission. They opened new perspectives for the future, nourished in faith, joy, and solidarity—renewing the call to be bearers of the light of Christ in our communities and beyond.
