Montreal

Teams are hard at work in several Montreal parishes, in an effort to continue the Church’s outreach and active presence to those in need. Here is some news from one such parish, the Southwest-borough community of St-Zotique.

Thanks to a concerted effort led by Solidarité St-Henri, the local food drive operating out of this neighbourhood remains well coordinated. In spite of imposed restrictions, distribution of food and services to the homeless continue from the basement of St-Zotique Church, where Benedict Labre House is currently stationed for the next few months.

A chemical toilet has been installed in front of the church to accommodate the numerous workers involved.

In addition, food distribution and delivery by Moisson Montréal and Benedict Labre House have begun, ensuring that 150 local families receive food baskets each week. There are many volunteers involved and whose work deserves our recognition.

Following a visit to the church during Holy Week, borough mayor Benoît Dorais shared news and photos of the initiative on his social media profile via Facebook.

Thank you to the members of the Fabrique of St-Zotique Parish, and to the organizations and individuals involved in pooling their resources to help ensure everyone has enough to eat well, and their fill.
