Pope Francis has written an Apostolic Letter on the meaning and importance of the Nativity scene. He signed the letter during his visit to the Italian town of Greccio on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Here is the homily (only in French) pronounced by Cardinal Paul GRÉGOIRE at the funeral of 9 of the 14 women killed during the Polytechnique massacre, celebrated at Notre-Dame Basilica on December 11, 1989.

For three decades, the Fondation canadienne de la vidéo religieuse (FCVR) has supported media projects that explore topics touching on the search for the meaning of life, and on human and spiritual values. The Church of the Gesù in Montreal hosted an evening event to celebrate the FCVR’s 30th anniversary. Close to 100 people were in attendance.

At the feast day mass of Christ the King held Nov. 23, Archbishop Christian Lépine asked the congregation: “Do you have a crucifix at home? Do you take the time to ponder the meaning of it?” It is through contemplating these simple yet challenging questions that the faithful were invited to enter into the feast of Christ the King, the king who comes with the promise of a kingdom that is not of this world.

This year’s feast of Christ the King was a memorable event for the Missionary Sisters of Christ the King (MCR). Bishop Alain Faubert, V.G. celebrated the 90th anniversary of the founding of their community at their Mother House in Laval, Nov. 24. The Honourable Guy Ouellette, Member of the Quebec National Assembly for Chomedey, was also in attendance to thank the sisters for their work.
