On December 12th, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Bishop Javier Echevarria, the prelate of Opus Dei, passed away. He was 84. He was the second successor of St. Josemaria Escriva, Opus Dei's founder.

Released on December 8, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Archbishop's pastoral letter for the 375th anniversary of the founding of Montreal highlights the spiritual dimension of the city's origins and history.

Pope Francis will not be visiting Montreal in 2017. The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi, recently relayed this message in a letter addressed to the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, Bishop Douglas Crosby.
