Ottawa – Representatives from Catholic Indigenous organizations came together last week with Catholic Bishops from the Episcopal Conferences of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States for the International Conference on Catholic Indigenous Ministry (ICCI). This gathering, held in Washington D.C., was a historic milestone advancing dialogue, learning, and fellowship among pastoral agents working with Indigenous-Catholic communities.

Rouyn-Noranda – Quebec’s Catholic bishops, gathered at the plenary assembly in Rouyn-Noranda, are encouraging Quebec citizens to support a national campaign for the taxation of superprofits being enjoyed by food corporations. In taking this step, the bishops are responding to an invitation from the Social Action Table of the Dioceses of Quebec (Table de pastorale sociale des diocèses du Québec), a partner group of the Church and Society Council (Conseil Église et Société).

During a recent encounter with a group of Palestinian Christian youth, a discussion was held around the importance of remaining steadfast and hopeful in ‘the Land of Jesus’ – their homeland. One teen remarked, “In view of the economic hardships and political instability, the occupation and rising fundamentalism, where we Christians face extreme difficulties and feel unwelcome, why not pack our bags and return to Europe?”
