Montreal

A calling rooted in prayer

We are delighted to announce that Jonathan Baker will be ordained a deacon for the Archdiocese of Montreal on Thursday, September 12, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., at Saint-Thomas-à-Becket Church in Pierrefonds. The celebration will be presided over by Archbishop Christian Lépine.

Born in Montreal and raised in a Catholic family, Jonathan has always maintained a connection to the faith, even during periods of spiritual lukewarmness. Consecrated to Our Lady from childhood, he attributes the key moments of his conversion and discernment to her intercession.

For more than ten years, he explored the contemplative life in religious orders such as the Trappists and the Carthusians, before discerning a call to the priesthood. After studying philosophy in Canada and the United States, he entered the Grand Séminaire de Montréal in 2018. He completed his pastoral internship at Saint-Thomas-à-Becket Parish, where he will be ordained.

“I have come to bring fire to the earth...” (Lk 12:49)

“Our God is a consuming fire” (Heb 12:29)

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10)

🙏 Please keep Jonathan in your prayers and join us in this celebration of hope and fidelity to God’s call.
