Diaconal Ordination of Jonathan Baker

Montreal
A Call Rooted in Prayer
We are pleased to announce that Jonathan Baker will be ordained to the transitional diaconate for the Archdiocese of Montreal on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Thomas à Becket Parish in Pierrefonds. The celebration will be presided over by Archbishop Christian Lépine.
Born in Montreal and raised in a Catholic family, Jonathan has always remained connected to his faith, even during times of spiritual dryness. Consecrated to Our Lady in his childhood, he attributes key moments of his conversion and discernment to her intercession.
For more than ten years, he explored the contemplative life within religious orders such as the Trappists and Carthusians before discerning a call to the priesthood. After studies in philosophy in Canada and the United States, he entered the Grand Séminaire de Montréal in 2018. His pastoral internship took place at Saint Thomas à Becket Parish, where he will now be ordained.
“I came to bring fire to the earth…” — Lk 12:49
“Our God is a consuming fire.” — Heb 12:29
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Ps 46:10
Please keep Jonathan in your prayers, and join us for this celebration of hope and fidelity to God’s call.
