Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is with great joy and hope that I announce the appointment of Ms. Maribel Mayorga-Espinoza as Press Officer to the Archbishop and Director of Communications for our Archdiocese. Many of you will remember her from her previous service with us. Most recently, she served as Director of Communications for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), and we are delighted to welcome her back, bringing with her a wealth of national experience.

Maribel Mayorga brings extensive experience in ecclesial and institutional communications, both in Canada and internationally. At the CCCB, she oversaw communications and media relations, managed digital platforms and official content, developed strategic communications plans, and maintained strong networks with dioceses and Catholic organizations across the country. She has also worked with Torchia Communications, gaining expertise in public relations, corporate communication, and crisis management. Internationally, she collaborated with the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops in the Vatican’s Media Commission and completed specialized training at the Dicastery for Communication on digital evangelization.

Locally, Maribel has previously contributed to the Archdiocese of Montreal as Content Manager and Assistant Director, and coordinated communications for the Canadian delegation at World Youth Day. She has also worked as a journalist and television host with Salt + Light Media. She holds a degree in Communications and Public Relations, with a focus on journalism and television hosting.

Guided by her professional expertise and faith, Maribel is committed to putting communication at the service of the Church’s evangelizing mission, building bridges, supporting pastoral initiatives, and assisting the Archdiocese in proclaiming the Gospel in today’s world.

I also wish to express my deep gratitude to Ms. Isabel Correa, who faithfully and competently assumed these responsibilities on an interim basis over the past two years, while managing her many other duties. Under her leadership, we have seen numerous improvements: a clearer vision of our identity and mission, strengthened internal and external communications, an enhanced presence in the media and online, and greater collaboration across teams. These achievements have renewed our ability to deliver a clear and credible message—essential for proclaiming Jesus Christ in today’s world.

Going forward, Isabel Correa will focus her energy and expertise on her role as Senior Director of Evangelization and Christian Life Services, which includes Mission Jeunesse, Faith Education, and the Adult Catechumenate.

In this position, she will continue to strengthen the pastoral vitality of our Archdiocese by supporting parish communities and movements in catechesis and faith formation across all stages of life—children, youth, and adults—while promoting vibrant youth ministry. With over 25 years of experience in youth ministry, both locally and nationally, including her coordination of World Youth Day for the CCCB, Isabel brings her charism and vision to fostering growth in faith and proclaiming the Gospel.

I also extend warm thanks to the Communications team for their dedicated work and to Mission Jeunesse for their creative and generous collaboration in supporting this important mission.

Our Church faces significant challenges: responding to the spiritual needs of our time, building a culture of trust and truth, and proclaiming the Gospel with clarity and hope. A solid, coherent communications strategy, rooted in the truth of Christ’s love, is essential for this mission.

Together, we continue our journey of mission with joy and confidence.

May the Lord abundantly bless you, and may He guide us to continue walking as a Church—the People of God, the Body of Christ, and the Temple of the Holy Spirit—bearing witness together to the Gospel of Life.
