Every year, millions of Christians around the world live their faith at the cost of great suffering. In solidarity with them, the Catholic Church in Montreal is joining the international initiative Red Wednesday, organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), to pray and raise awareness about the reality of religious persecution.

This celebration, presided over by Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal, will be a moment of prayer and fraternal communion in memory of all those who suffer for their faith. This year, special emphasis will be placed on the reality of displaced persons and refugees, who are often forced to flee because of their religion.

Red Wednesday aims to remind us of the importance of religious freedom, a fundamental human right enshrined in Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It invites everyone to take a concrete gesture of solidarity: wear red, the color of martyrdom, as a sign of unity with persecuted Christians.

Join us, wear red, and pray with us!

Together, let us show that our brothers and sisters in faith are not forgotten.
