A New Chapter for Montreal's Notre-Dame d’Haïti Mission

Fr. Pierre Onel Feliatus, c.s., Installed as Pastor: A Moment of Faith, Unity, and Renewal
Montreal, October 19, 2025 — The Notre-Dame d’Haïti Catholic marked a joyful and heartfelt milestone with the installation of its new pastor, Rev. Fr. Pierre Onel Feliatus, c.s. Nearly 600 faithful came together to celebrate this significant moment in the life of a community that has long been a spiritual home for Montreal’s Haitian Catholics.
The installation Mass was presided over by Fr. Pierangelo Paternieri, c.s., Episcopal Vicar and Director of the Office for Cultural and Ritual Communities in the Archdiocese of Montreal. His presence highlighted the Mission’s integral role within the archdiocesan family and its enduring contribution to the pastoral life of the Haitian community.
Several civil authorities were also in attendance, offering their support and recognition of the Mission’s work and its new pastor. The celebration began with a solemn procession and the formal reading of the letter of appointment. Fr. Féliatus then made his profession of faith, reverently touching the Book of the Gospels in accordance with the rite of installation.
In his homily, Fr. Paternieri reflected that a pastor is called to be “the sign of Christ’s loving presence among his people.” He encouraged the new Mission leader to serve with humility, attentive listening, and dedicated service. He also invited the faithful to walk together in faith, solidarity, and hope—following the example of Christ the Good Shepherd.
The celebration was enriched by Creole hymns, community prayers, and moments of reflection, beautifully reflecting the cultural and spiritual vitality of the Haitian people. A festive meal concluded the day in an atmosphere of warmth and communion.
Following the sudden passing of Fr. Yves-Michel Touzen in June 2025, the community now embraces a new chapter with Fr. Feliatus. His arrival heralds a renewal of hope and vitality for the Notre-Dame d’Haïti Catholic Mission, a cherished place of belonging and faith for Haitian Catholics in Montreal.
