For Immediate Release
The Archdiocese of Montreal invites the faithful to three days of talks, conversation and reflection on how the Church’s many callings work together, Nov. 5 to 7.
MONTREAL, Oct. 15, 2026 – What is my place in the Church and in the world? How can different paths in life complement one another and serve a shared mission?
These questions lie at the heart of “All Called! – The Complementarity of Vocations for Mission,” a conference the Archdiocese of Montreal is organizing with the Centre for Research and Anthropology of Vocations (CRAV), an international body promoting every vocation in the Church. It runs Nov. 5 to 7 at the Sanctuaire Marie-Reine-des-Cœurs, 5875 Sherbrooke St. E., in the city’s east end.
At a time of sweeping change in society, the conference offers room for reflection, conversation and encounter. It rests on a conviction at the core of the Christian faith: every person is called to use their gifts and talents in the service of others.
Many callings, one mission
Every Christian, by virtue of baptism, has a vocation. By answering their own call, each one helps build up a Church diverse in its members yet united as one body, with one mission, guided by one Spirit. As the conference title affirms, all are called: priests, consecrated men and women, married couples, active lay members of the Church and, in the broadest sense, anyone who has been baptized, each living out the faith along a path of their own.
The conference sets out to show what each of these callings brings and how they complement one another, and to deepen understanding of the responsibility every Christian shares for the life and mission of the Church.
Voices from Quebec and abroad
Among the speakers are Cardinal Marc Ouellet, P.S.S., past head of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Bishops and former archbishop of Quebec, Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal, Sister Marie de l’Assomption O.P. and Father Gabriel Richi Alberti. They will be joined by men and women living out different vocations and ministries in the Church.
Through talks, personal testimonies, workshops and open discussion, participants will be invited to reflect more deeply on what their own vocation means and to discover how a variety of paths can enrich the life of their faith communities.
The conference opens with a keynote address on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 5, launching two days of sessions on Friday and Saturday. Talks will be given in French, with simultaneous interpretation into English.
Open to young adults, families, laypeople, priests, deacons, consecrated men and women and anyone interested, the event offers everyone a time of fellowship and spiritual renewal.
