Archbishop Invites Prayers Ahead of Papal Conclave

Montreal
With the conclave to elect the next pope beginning May 7, Archbishop Lépine invites the faithful to pray at Mass this Sunday, asking the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinals in choosing a successor filled with humility and love for Christ.
A MESSAGE FROM THE ARCHBISHOP OF MONTREAL:
Let Us Pray for the Next Successor of Peter
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As the Church remembers the life and legacy of Pope Francis, she now prepares for the upcoming conclave, which will begin this Wednesday, May 7, to elect a new Pope. I invite you to join in prayer at Mass this Sunday, entrusting this sacred time to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray for the cardinals that they may be led by the Spirit in choosing a new successor to Peter—one filled with humility and a deep love for Jesus.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the Risen Christ says to Peter, “Follow me” (John 21:19). May this invitation also resonate in our hearts, and inspire the whole Church to walk in faith, following Jesus Christ—the Lamb who was slain and our Good Shepherd—and to proclaim His Name to the ends of the earth.
By God’s grace, may we be Pilgrims of Hope.
United in prayer,
†Christian Lépine
Archbishop of Montreal
