The Archdiocese of Montreal’s Grand Séminaire launches a new website
Montreal
The Archdiocese of Montreal’s Grand Séminaire: in the spirit of renewal • Courses in theology and ministry available to the general public • A section dedicated exclusively to the Fondation du Grand Séminaire.
The Archdiocese of Montreal’s Grand Séminaire (GSAM) is pleased to announce the launch of its new website: https://gsam-montreal.org/
Established about a year ago in the popular neighbourhood of Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie in the parish of Saint-Arsène, the Grand Séminaire developed its new website as a communication tool to reflect its values of renewal, openness and accessibility.
"The Archdiocese of Montreal’s Grand Séminaire is vital to the life of our Christian community. It trains the missionary disciples who go out into the field and engage with today’s challenges, who listen to their parishioners and re-open the dialogue with them," says Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal.
"Housed in a building with a familial character, this home base enables our priests-in-training to become closer to the people who live in the area, and to take part in the varied activities of daily life. It helps to ground their training in a human dimension, in addition to the spiritual, pastoral and intellectual aspects. Our website is a good reflection of these several dimensions and of our new environms," says the Rector of the Archdiocese of Montreal’s Grand Séminaire, Father Guy Guindon, PSS.
The launch was attended by the Archbishop of Montreal Christian Lépine and the Rector of the Grand Séminaire of the Archdiocese of Montreal, Father Guy Guindon, PSS.
About the Grand Séminaire of the Archdiocese of Montreal (GSAM)
Since 1840, the primary mission of the Grand Séminaire of the Archdiocese of Montreal has been the training of priests with a deep connection to Jesus Christ. The year 2020 was characterized by a sense of renewal in the story of the Grand Séminaire, which now offers updated theoretical and practical training adapted to the challenges of today's realities. The training program has also been enhanced through a collaborative agreement with Université Laval’s Faculty of Theology and Religious Sciences.

New: theology and pastoral courses offered to the general public
The Grand Séminaire of the Archdiocese of Montreal is breaking new ground by offering certificate and bachelor's degree courses in theology to the general public.
Through its partnership with Université Laval’s Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, the GSAM is opening up registration in these study programs to religious, laypersons and future permanent deacons of the Archdiocese of Montreal and other interested dioceses. The courses are given by associate professors of the Grand Séminaire of the Archdiocese of Montreal as well as professors of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at Université Laval, in-person, remote or in hybrid mode, as the case may be.
Also offered by the GSAM is the Certificate in Pastoral Care program offered by the GSAM. Also designed for future priests and permanent deacons, it will also be offered to religious and lay persons. The Certificate in Pastoral Care is offered as a face-to-face, remote or hybrid mode program, as the case may be.
