Released by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB)

16 November 2025, Ottawa — Today, on the World Day of the Poor, the Catholic Conference of Canadian Bishops (CCCB) releases a pastoral letter by the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace titled Our Daily Bread: Food Security and the Call to Solidarity.

Centred on the themes of solidarityharmony, and harvest, the pastoral letter highlights the current challenges to food security, both globally and in Canada. It urges Canadian Catholics to consider practical ways they can live in solidarity with those who lack food as well as to ensure that God’s abundant gifts reach all those in need.

“I invite you to reflect on the contents of this letter and to renew our shared commitment to fostering a culture of justice and peace, so that all may have their daily bread.”

— The Most Rev. Christian Lépine, Chairman of the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace
