A celebration of Montreal youth
Montreal
This year’s diocesan World Youth Day will be held on April 13. Come join hundreds of young people who will gather together to celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ!
Diocesan World Youth Day is a gathering where ALL Montreal youth are invited by the Archbishop to gather and celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ, and to highlight the vitality of young people at the heart of our Church. This year's theme is: "Let it done to me according to your word." (Luke 1:38)
There are 3 parts to this celebration:
12 p.m. - Youth Festival at Santa Cruz Mission
Teens and Young Adult groups are invited to actively participate in the Youth Festival by choosing part of the Holy Father's message that inspired them or the WYD theme of this year, and to present it to others in a creative artistic way.
- Teen Animation (13-17 years old)
- Young Adult Animation (18-35 years old)
3 p.m. - Mini-Pilgrimage in the streets of downtown Montreal
A time to witness to the love of Christ. The pilgrimage through the streets of Montreal becomes a commemoration of the Lord's entrance into Jerusalem. We are Christ's disciples who want to transform today's world. We walk in the streets to witness our faith and hope in Jesus Christ.
4 p.m. - Commemoration of the Lord's Entrance into Jerusalem at St. Patrick's Basilica
Blessing of the Palms at St. Patrick's Basilica!
5 p.m. - Eucharistic Celebration of the Passion presided by Archbishop Christian Lépine at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral
A solemn moment in commemoration of the Passion of Christ. It is a calm and sombre time, as we re-live the painful memory of the Lord's final hour, and because His love for us is very precious. It is through His Passion that we can celebrate His Resurrection and our own salvation.
