Choosing life, choosing Jesus: an All Saints’ Eve vigil centered on holiness
Montreal
“We are here to choose life, to choose Jesus, and to become saints.”
On October 31, young people from the *Renouveau du Québec* sisters from the *Semences du Verbe* community, the Missionaries of Charity, and other members of the faithful gathered at Saint-Michel-Archange Church, joined by Father Jacek Mikulski, to celebrate the Vigil of All Saints’ Day.
By candlelight, the young people from the *Renouveau du Québec* led the recitation of the Rosary—in French, English, and Polish—on the church forecourt. Passersby walking through the Mile End neighborhood were drawn in by the hymns and prayers.
Inside the Neo-Byzantine-style church, the Litany of the Saints—sung by the sisters of the *Semences du Verbe* community—along with accounts of the lives of the saints presented by the young people and a period of adoration, drew the participants into a state of deep, prayerful reflection.
Father Mikulski encouraged the faithful to choose life: “Today, many people revere death and darkness. We, however, are here to choose life, to choose Jesus, and to become saints. Let us ask Him to be our strength and our light.”
The evening concluded with a time of fellowship, in an atmosphere filled with peace and joy.
