Montreal

Montreal, October 21, 2024 - The weekly radio program Confluents is broadcasting its 100th episode today. To mark the occasion, the program features a unique encounter with Innu author Michel Jean, a committed writer renowned for his novels highlighting Aboriginal realities.

Launched four years ago, Confluents gives a voice to First Peoples and their allies, presenting their struggles, their hopes and their vibrant cultures. With its in-depth interviews and authentic stories, has quickly established itself as an indispensable meeting place between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal worlds.

“To foster true reconciliation, we must first understand Aboriginal realities,” says Catherine Ego, a translator specializing in Aboriginal literature and co-host of the program. “In launching this project in 2021, we wanted to create a space for dialogue that reflects the diversity of Aboriginal voices,” adds Mathieu Lavigne, program co-host and director of Mission chez nous, the organization that produces Confluents. “This program is particularly dear to our hearts, as it brings to the general public multiple, and often unprecedented, insights into the realities, priorities, challenges and successes of First Peoples.”

This 28-minute program is broadcast weekly on Radio VM and Radio Galilée, and then repeated as a podcast on the main broadcast platforms. Every week, Confluents opens up a major forum for reflection and mutual learning, a privileged space for listening and opening up to other worldviews.

Production of this program is made possible thanks to the financial support of Œuvres Marie-Anne-Lavallée and the Lucien-Labelle Foundation.
