Montreal

Dear colleagues, supporters and friends of Le Pont,

Le Pont is a member of a coalition of groups that organized the April 4 vigil in front of Justin Trudeau's office following the announcement of the extension of the Safe Third Country Agreement to the entire Canadian border, thus preventing any and all asylum requests from being made at the border, with the exception of those of minors and family members.

Since that time, we have decided to coordinate a march for the right to asylum! In solidarity with the people who traverse countries and continents on foot seeking security, we will be marching from Montreal to Roxham Road on June 17, 18 and 19. We are protesting this closure of the Canadian border to the vast majority of those seeking asylum. We demand that Canada withdraw from the Canada-United States Safe Third Country Agreement.
