Released by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB)

Wednesday, September 24 2025

The Episcopal Commission for Evangelization and Catechesis (ECEC) of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (English Sector) is pleased to announce a new four-part video series titled Called to Witness and Proclaim, developed to support the Commission’s Pastoral Letter on Family Catechesis, released last October. The series aims to help families, catechists, and pastoral leaders deepen their understanding of the family as the “domestic church.” Each video offers accessible and engaging content suitable for formation in parish settings, pastoral reflection on family ministry, parent formation sessions, or personal reflection.

The complete series is now available on YouTube.

Video Series Overview

  1. Called to Witness and Proclaim (Introduction)
Archbishop Brian Joseph Dunn, Chairman of the ECEC, introduces the pastoral vision of family catechesis through the Gospel story of Jairus and his daughter, reflecting on how Christ continues to walk with families today, offering hope and renewal.
  2. Called to Witness and Proclaim (Catechesis in the Family)
Presented as a relatable dialogue, this video highlights how faith is handed down in daily family life—through meals, car rides, prayer, and storytelling—showing families as “living Gospels” of Christ’s love.
  3. Called to Witness and Proclaim (Catechesis with the Family)
This video explores how the Church accompanies families in their faith journey through liturgy, preaching, and Tradition, underscoring the parish’s essential role in fostering encounters with Christ.
  4. Called to Witness and Proclaim (Catechesis of the Family + Conclusion)
The final video invites families to embrace their mission as disciples, witnessing to Christ’s love at home, in schools, workplaces, and the wider community. Archbishop Dunn closes with a message of encouragement on behalf of the ECEC, invoking St. Paul’s prayer from Ephesians 3:14–19.

The ECEC invites Diocesan Bishops to share the news about this video series with their respective pastors and catechetical leaders via websites, newsletters, and social media channels.
