Padre Mussie: A Pastor at the Service of Community and Mission

Montreal
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, the parish community of Madre dei Cristiani - Italians, Eritreans, Filipinos, young and old, first and second generation migrants - gathered to celebrate with joy and gratitude the 50th anniversary of the life of Padre Mussie. In the presence of Mgr Pierangelo Paternieri, Episcopal Vicar for Cultural and Ritual Communities, and several priests, the celebration was a fine testimony to the spirit of welcome, collaboration and mission that animates our parish.
From his beginnings in Switzerland, where he was responsible for 14 churches, to his role as European coordinator of Eritrean Catholics, then his ministry in Canada, Padre Mussie has embodied a deep commitment to the service of the Church and the community. Doctor of Theology (2020), nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize (2015), winner of the Golden Dove for International Peace (2016) and the Mediterranean Culture Prize (2017), he is an inspiring example of living faith and dedication.
In this Jubilee Year, his journey reminds us of the call to be pilgrims of hope, building together a community united, missionary and growing in faith. May the Lord continue to bless him with health, strength and wisdom for many years to come.
Buon Compleanno, Padre Mussie!
