Following the recommendations of the 2018 guidelines on Protecting Minors released by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), the Catholic Church of Montreal is publishing its protocol for reporting and processing sexual abuse complaints.

In effect since 2003, the protocol currently includes many of the recommendations contained in the CCCB guidelines; nevertheless, it is under review.

An updated version will be published within the next year; it will conform more fully with the CCCB guidelines as well as incorporate the recommendations stemming from the 2019 bishops’ meeting convened by Pope Francis to tackle the issue of sexual abuse within the Church.
