Montreal

The synodal process in the universal Church in general, and in our Church in Montreal in particular, invites us to be aware that "we are in a change of era" (cf. EG 25, 52), which entails a change in the way we carry out our mission.

Father Jean-Marie Bilwala Kabesa (Translated into English)

It's a time of conversion, of adoration, of listening, of fraternal visits and life witness. A new time has dawned, one that compels us to look to the future.  "[...] Behold, I am doing something new: it is already germinating, can't you see it? Yes, I will make a way in the desert, rivers in dry places" (Is 43:19).

It was in this synodal spirit that Archbishop Christian Lépine and Vicar General Charles Langlois met with the priests of the French-speaking West Island deanery at the church of Marie-Reine-de-la-Paix on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 30, 2024. It was a moment of grace, of listening, of fraternal dialogue to witness Christ to our sisters and brothers. "Contemporary man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, or if he listens to teachers, it is because they are witnesses" (Evangelii Nuntiandi, 41).
