A Young Montreal Voice at the Heart of the Universal Church
International
It is with great joy that we share the participation of Sally Yasmine, a member of the Mission Jeunesse Montréal Volunteer Service team, in the second in-person gathering of the International Youth Advisory Body (IYAB), convened by the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life. Sally is representing Canada for the term 2024 - 2027—a powerful sign of the vitality and commitment of the young people of our local Church to the universal mission of the Church.
During this gathering in Rome, the twenty young members of the IYAB had the honour of meeting Pope Leo XIV for the first time, who encouraged them to “have an open heart, ready to listen to the inspirations of the Spirit and the deep aspirations of each person.” These words resonate deeply with the mission of Mission Jeunesse Montréal: to accompany young people so that they become witnesses to the Gospel in their own communities, rooted in prayer, communion, and mission.
The IYAB fruit of the synod on Youth 2028 aims to bring to the Holy See the perspective and voice of young people on current issues in the life of the Church. Through her exchanges with the Pope and the leaders of the Dicastery, Sally contributes to this global dialogue by bringing the experience, faith, and dreams of the young people of our diocese.
Upon her return, she will share her experience with the young people of the Youth Mission Network, nourishing our commitment to build a Church that is ever more synodal, missionary, and close to the heart of Christ.
We wish her a wonderful mission and assure her of our prayers and fraternal support.
