The Holy Father appointed Bishop Claude Hamelin the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Last Thursday, Pope Francis greeted staff and students of Rome’s Catholic LUMSA University as the institute celebrates 80 years from its foundation, and urges them to pursue integral education in a fragmented world full of contradictions.

Pope Francis, in his continuing catechesis on the Acts of the Apostles, recalls St Paul’s journey to Corinth and his encounter with a devout married couple, Aquila and Priscilla, describing them as an example of Christian hospitality.

The Faith Enrichment Conference is a biannual event that serves the English-speaking Catholic community of Montreal. This conference is generously supported by Pillars Trust Fund, and this year, funding was also provided by the North American Forum on the Catechumenate. Traditionally, the Faith Enrichment Conference is an opportunity for parish catechetical leaders and catechists to come together. This year’s event, held Oct. 18-19, was open, for the first time, to all parish teams and families as well.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), through the Commission for Justice and Peace, and in consultation with Aid to the Church in Need Canada, released a statement Nov. 4 entitled In His Name: Statement on the Persecution of Christians.
