As Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) prepares to issue its international report on the persecution of Christians (2017-19), its Canadian office is organizing a second observance of Red Wednesday to raise awareness and to educate the public about the issue and the importance of religious freedom. To be held Nov. 20, the event is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with persecuted Christians worldwide.

In the basement of Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, a small crowd gathered on Oct. 16 to hear three witnesses’ stories and thoughts on end-of-life care and inner preparation before crossing the veil of death. “Dying can become a precious and beautiful experience", evening host Luc Harvey said.

The Foundation of the Grand Seminary of Montreal celebrated, on Oct. 11, 35 years of support for the formation of future priests. To mark this event, bishops of several dioceses of Quebec gathered to celebrate a Mass with the Most Rev. Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal, and Alain Faubert, Auxiliary bishop of Montreal.
English sector hosts first diocesan “listening session”

About 90 people turned out Oct. 8 for the first of three “listening sessions” organized by the Archdiocese of Montreal. The sessions continue the process of transforming the diocese from a maintenance to a missionary-driven church, an initiative launched in 2018.
