The Most Rev. Frank Leo, Auxiliary Bishop of Montreal

Montreal — An Italian Canadian in the uppermost echelons of the Catholic Church of Montreal: a source of pride for this entire Community whose faith has always been an integral aspect of our identity, a distinguishing feature and an unbreakable bond with our roots, our culture and our traditions. The man in question is the Most Rev. Frank Leo who, originally from the parish of Our Lady of Consolation, was last week ordained Titular Bishop of Tamada and Auxiliary Bishop of Montreal, in which apostolic mission he will work alongside Bishop Alain Faubert and Archbishop Christian Lépine.

The Canonization of Blessed Giovanni Battista Scalabrini

Rome — On October 9 Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini will be proclaimed a saint. Today, in St. Peter's Basilica during the Ordinary Consistory, Pope Francis announced the date on which the Bishop of Piacenza, founder of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo and the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo Scalabrinians and inspirer of the Scalabrini Secular Missionaries, will be canonized.

CNEWA CANADA disbursements to Ukraine reach $5.5 million CAD since the beginning of 2022

Ottawa — The Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) has distributed more than $5.5 million CAD in emergency aid to Ukraine. With the help of its local partners including the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Caritas Ukraine and the Ukrainian Catholic University, CNEWA donations are reaching people both in large cities and in remote villages throughout Ukraine.
