In addition to the approximately twenty bishops who take part regularly in the plenary assembly, another 125 individuals from the various dioceses across Quebec will also be in attendance. On March 7 and 8, all participants will be involved in the discussion of  the synodal process that took place in every diocese of the province.

Throughout the week, the bishops will examine a range of topics, including medical assistance in dying and our religious heritage, as well as theological and pastoral training.

“The plenary assembly is a great opportunity for the bishops to come together and discuss questions that concern all the dioceses in Quebec. These talks help us to come up with common solutions and to join forces to face the challenges that we all experience,” said Msgr. Christian Rodembourg, President of the Assembly of Quebec Catholic Bishops.

The bishops gather for a plenary assembly twice a year for a period of four days in March and four days in September. In between these two meetings, an executive committee consisting of five bishops elected by the Assembly is responsible for following up on the issues raised.
