Communion and Liberation Choir Announces Annual Christmas Benefit Concert: Proceeds to Support the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land
Montreal
The Communion and Liberation Choir is pleased to present its traditional Christmas Benefit Concert on Saturday, December 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Priests of Saint-Sulpice (former Grand Séminaire de Montréal, on 2065, Sherbrooke Street, West). This year, the CL Christmas poster features an image of the Milk Grotto in Bethlehem, a place hallowed by Christian tradition, where the mystery of the Word made flesh unfolded and the birth of Our Lord left its enduring mark. According to an ancient tradition, the Holy Family sought refuge in this quiet white-stone grotto while fleeing from Herod’s soldiers.
There, a drop of Mary’s milk is said to have turned the rock white, and across the centuries thousands of women—Christians and Muslims alike—have entrusted their struggles and hopes to the Virgin in this place where pain and hope converge and life triumphs. This image serves as a visual reminder of the Holy Land that the concert seeks to support and of the living reality at the heart of the Christmas message. Once again, this year’s fundraising effort is offered in response to the appeal of Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, as a visible sign of our friendship and closeness to Christians of the Holy Land, who continue to face profound suffering and uncertainty. Under the direction of Dr. Mark Basik, the choir will offer an evening of sacred music and meditations on the mystery of the Nativity.
The proceeds will be donated to the Commissariat of the Holy Land, the Canadian office of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, which serves Christian communities and maintains holy sites in Jerusalem and throughout the region. Tickets (adults $30 and students $15) may be purchased online 👉 CLICK HERE CHRISTMAS BENEFIT CONCERT BÉNÉFICE DE NOËL or at the door (cash only). Additional donations are welcome and are eligible for a tax receipt.
