About the Grand Séminaire de l’Archidiocèse de Montréal

Since 1840, the principal mission of the Grand Séminaire de l’Archidiocèse de Montréal (GSAM), in conjunction with the Sulpician Fathers, has been the formation of priests who are deeply attached to Jesus Christ. It is a centre for basic general education in philosophy, theology and pastoral care for future priests and permanent deacons, offering courses to members of religious communities and lay people from Montreal and environs, through its partnership with Université Laval’s Faculty of theology and religious sciences. In addition, the GSAM provides the formation program for the permanent diaconate. Since August 2020, the GSAM has been established in its new premises reflecting a more human dimension in the parish of Saint-Arsène, a popular neighbourhood in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.
