Hurricane Matthew, the most powerful storm to hit Haiti in a decade, is currently ravaging the tiny island nation. Development and Peace is currently preparing to respond.

As the poorest country in the northern hemisphere, Haiti is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of natural disasters. The extent of damage remains unclear, however, preliminary reports from Development and Peace partner Caritas Haiti indicate that the storm is catastrophic for the local population. Development and Peace has already mobilized $50,000 from its humanitarian aid fund to support its partners in responding to the hurricane.

Development and Peace has a strong network of partners throughout the country and many are already helping those who are in shelters. They are remaining in constant communication with those on the ground to monitor the situation, and our prayers are with the most vulnerable.
