Unity in Diversity: A Pastoral Year Celebrated
Montreal
Priests and deacons who serve and minister to Montreal's cultural parish communities and missions came together at Madonna del Divino Amore Mission in Laval's Duvernay district on June 16 to mark the close of the pastoral year. Centred on a shared barbecue, the informal gathering was an opportunity for genuine fellowship and connection, and an occasion to recognize the work these ministers carry out throughout the year in the service of our diverse communities. Among those present to celebrate and receive were Mgr Noël Simard, Bishop Emeritus of Valleyfield; Fr. François Charette, Director of the Office for Pastoral Personnel; and Fr. Pierangelo Paternieri, CS, Episcopal Vicar for Cultural and Ritual Communities.
The cultural diversity that enriches our diocese is a genuine strength. Each priest and deacon, through commitment and daily presence among the faithful, helps strengthen the bonds that unite the people of God around faith and the Gospel. This gathering was a moment to acknowledge that witness: often quiet, always essential, and bearing fruit across the many parishes and missions that together make up the Church of Montreal.
As summer approaches, the Office for Cultural and Ritual Communities extends its warmest wishes for a well-deserved rest to all members of the clergy. May this time away be a season of renewal, prayer and refreshment, so that you may return in the fall with renewed energy in ministry to the faithful entrusted to your care.
Thank you for your presence and your commitment. You are a true blessing for this diocese. Have a restful and renewing summer.
