Feast day procession and mass for St. John the Baptist
19-06-2018
Montreal
All are invited, on June 24, to celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist by taking part in a Eucharistic procession, followed by a Solemn Mass at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church.
Needless to say, the feast of Saint John is of great importance in the life and history of our people and our Church. As in many dioceses throughout the country, the Church of Montreal solemnly celebrates the saint whom the Church declared patron saint of the French Canadians in 1908.
For several decades, the faithful have been gathering on this occasion at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, on Rachel Street, between Henri-Julien and Drolet, near Mont-Royal Metro station. This year, the celebration will be presided by Bishop Alain Faubert, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Montreal.
The day's schedule:
8 - 9 am: Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with the Monastic Fraternities of Jerusalem at Saint-Sacrement Sanctuary.
9 - 10 am: Eucharistic Procession to Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church (departure from Saint-Sacrement Sanctuary).
10 am: Solemn Mass
Welcome one and all!
