February: the Pope calls us to pray for migrants and victims of trafficking
Pope Francis
In this month of February, the Pope calls us to hear the cry of migrants, many of whom are victims of human trafficking.
From Vatican News
This video from the Réseau mondial de la prière du pape (a prayer group) was produced with the participation of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Dicastery for promoting integral human development. It also falls within the scope of the Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking, promoted by Talitha Kum, an international network of Consecrated Life against trafficking in persons founded by the International Union Superiors General (UISG), which took place on Saturday, February 8.
Here is the translation of the Holy Father’s words:
Migrants are often victims of criminal human smuggling and human trafficking.
Among other causes, this happens because of corruption on the part of people willing to do anything for financial gain.
The money from their dirty, underhanded business is blood money. I’m not exaggerating: it’s blood money.
We pray that the cries of our migrant brothers and sisters, victims of criminal human smuggling and human trafficking, may be heard and considered.
