Conference on "Humanae Vitae" Encyclical
National
The Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF) will host “The Joy of Marriage: Embracing God’s Vision. Humanae Vitae at 50”. This conference will be held May 31 to June 1st in Ottawa.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Humanae Vitae, Pope Paul VI's encyclical letter on the gift of human life. It is one of the most important documents ever put forth by the Catholic Church. Many people see its message as a resounding "No!" by the Church with regard to medical technology and the regulation of birth. It should be seen, however, as an emphatic "Yes!" to the fullness of life promised by Christ (Jn 10:10). We shall look at the profound prophetic, pastoral, and theological implications of the teaching contained in this major document for the Church and society.
An impressive roster of Canadian and American speakers, including Archbishop Christian Lépine, will be addressing different facets of this document.
The presentations, as well as the exchanges, will be made in both official languages by means of simultaneous translation.
