Montreal

SASMAD invites you to a day of prayer for and with the sick on Saturday, February 9 on the occasion of World Day of the Sick. This year’s theme, chosen by the Pope, is “You received without payment; give without payment”.

The day will begin with a time of welcome at 9 a.m., followed at 9:30 a.m. by Laudes and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Priests will be available to hear confessions, and to administer the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

The event will culminate with a concelebration of the Eucharist presided by Archbishop of Montreal Most Rev. Christian Lépine. Soup will then be served in the church basement, for all the participants.

In his message for the 27th World Day of the Sick, Pope Francis urges believers to promote a culture of generosity, noting that the joy of generous giving is a barometer of the health of a Christian. In his message for the World Day of the Sick, celebrated on 11 February, the Pope focused on Jesus’s words to the Apostles: “You received without payment; give without payment” (Mt 10:8).
